School policies
Terms & Conditions
All of our school policies in one place, so you know exactly how billing, scheduling, and make ups work before you enroll.
Policies by program
These policies cover weekly private lessons in every instrument.
Tuition
- Tuition for weekly lessons is a flat monthly fee. Most months have 4 lessons, and the rate is not adjusted for months with 5 lessons or months with 3 lessons due to holidays. See the school calendar for exact dates.
- Payment is due on the 1st of each month, billed automatically by credit card. A $25 late fee applies after the 10th of the month.
Withdrawal
- Let the front desk know by the 25th of the month to cancel your lessons for the following month.
- Tuition billed on the 1st is non-refundable.
Missed lessons
- Cancel a lesson with at least 24 hours notice (or same-day in case of illness or emergency) to receive a Make Up Pass, valid for 6 months and bookable online.
- No refunds or account credit for student cancellations.
- Make Up Passes are not issued for school holidays and closures; those are already built into the monthly rate (see Tuition above).
Staff cancellations & substitutions
- If your teacher is unavailable, we may provide a substitute teacher. Normal cancellation policies apply.
- If no substitute is available, you can choose a Make Up Pass or account credit toward your next bill.
Summer flexibility
- Students may cancel up to 4 lessons total across June, July, and August for account credit.
Every student
Policies for every program
These apply across all of our lessons and programs.
Care of students & picking up
- For parents of in-person minors: students should not be left at the school for excessive time periods before or after their lessons.
- Students may not leave unaccompanied without written permission from a parent or guardian.
Injuries & items
- All students, parents, and legal guardians waive the right to legal action for any injury sustained on school property, including hearing damage. Talk to your teacher about recommended hearing protection.
- Sunburst is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Photo release
- Unless requested in writing, Sunburst School of Music is granted permission to take photographs and videos of students for use in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements, social media, and other promotional materials. To opt out, let the front desk know in writing or call or text us.
