About the program
Find your people, make some noise
Whether you played in a band years ago or have always wanted to step onto the stage, the Adult Band Program makes it happen! We match our adult students with fellow musicians at a similar skill level and musical style. Each band meets weekly with an experienced coach to learn songs, build a set list, and develop a solid group dynamic.
Rehearsals focus on turning individual practice into a tight, cohesive sound. As your set list grows, your band will have opportunities to perform at local community events, all leading up to an exciting live finale performance at a local venue to celebrate the end of each term.
You do not need to be a seasoned musician to join. The program is open to adults who have basic instrument fundamentals down, like keeping a steady beat and playing chord progressions. We are here to help you grow!

Good to know before you book
Am I ready for the Band Program?
If you can play chords or a chord progression and keep a steady beat on your instrument, you're ready. You'll be placed in a band with other adults at a similar level.
Do I need to take lessons too?
Lessons are not required, but highly encouraged, to build the individual skills that bands count on. Band members also get discounted lesson rates at Sunburst.
Can I try a rehearsal first?
There are no trial sessions. Joining means committing to the full term, and that commitment is exactly what makes a band work.
What if I miss a rehearsal?
The band plays on. Missed sessions can't be refunded or made up, since the whole group shares the rehearsal.
How much time does it take?
One weekly rehearsal (90 minutes or 2 hours) plus whatever practice time you can find. Terms run September to January, February to May, and June to August.
How does re-enrollment work?
Current members get a priority re-enrollment window before open enrollment begins, so your band can stay together term after term.
